All over, actually, including in Mérida, Yucatán, México! Katelyn Smith, a junior Honors student at Meredith, is studying abroad this semester through the IFSA-Butler program. She has agreed to give us a glimpse on the blog of all the things she is experiencing until she can share it with us in person:
I have been in Mérida, Yucatán, México for a little over two months now and I have to admit that I have fallen head over heels for this city and its rich culture. I am taking classes in the departments of Communication and International Relations at a local private university called La Modelo. I am also taking courses at the IFSA-Butler office here in Mérida
.In two short months I have been able to experience so much of the culture here and have been able to visit many of the beautifully breathtaking Mayan ruins in the peninsula. Living with a host family, taking classes at a local university, making friends, and exploring the city have really helped me gain a better perspective of the Yucatecan culture and what makes it truly unique.
